Last night kicked off the very first night of Rocktoberfest at L.A. LIVE.  The event benefited the Wounded Warrior Project, which aids returning veterans.  The rockers were out in force with guests including Nikki Sixx, Gilby Clark, Eric Singer and Bruce Kulick.  Oh yeah, Gene was there too.

This was only the opening night!  We’ve got plenty more where that came from.  We will be doing our Rocktoberfest games throughout the week and culminating in a Craft Brew Festival on Sunday Oct 21st.  We’ve got KISS Army Night on thursday, so all you card carrying members make it out.

Adam Carolla will be making an appearance on Saturday also.  You can try his new wine that he is rolling out; “Mangria“.

Making the rounds, they were also on NBC morning news today.  Wolfgang’s food spread is looking pretty good.  And don’t forget about the beer!

With Rocktoberfest in full swing, everyone down here is a little excited.  So much so, that Gene Simmons is coming out to see and experience it for himself.  He, along with the rest of KISS and the Crue are back from the tour for the weekend.

He will be coming in this Friday at 4pm for the kickoff of Rocktoberfest.  We will be continuing our contests and games.  And who knows, maybe Gene will even host and Stein Holding contest or two??

Our team has been working pretty tirelessly to make this years Rocktoberfest an even bigger success than the last.  So we figured it would be worth taking one last hoorah down to the outskirts of San Diego and heading to a couple of our favorite breweries.  We know that once this Rocktoberfest gets going, we’ll be out of commission until its all said and done.  Besides, who doesn’t like a good educational field trip?!

With safety first in mind (and the day the music died), our wonderful group of managers hoped on a vintage 1980s tour bus and got on our way early in the morning.  Making fantastic time, and after a strenuous game of beer trivia, we landed at Lost Abbey/Port Brewing.

We had a great set up, being the only people in the brewery and were immediately greeted with samples of their Road to Helles.  Just in time for Oktoberfest, the Helles beer is under the lager umbrella.  Born out of Munich, this wheaty, balanced, and blonde in color beer was a perfect start.   Having both Lost Abbey and Port in the same spot was like stopping at 2 breweries in one.   A highlight of ours was being able to sample a series of bottles they produce solely at the brewery, and ironically are all created and named after classic rock songs.

After Lost Abbey/Port brewing, it was back in the bus and off to stone for a couple more rounds and a tour through their brewing facility.  Now we have seen a number of breweries, but stone has some thing that they dont have.  They have an entire refrigerated room dedicated to Hop storage.  The room smelled unbelievable, and a little familiar…

After that, things started to get a little fuzzy.  But the important thing to note is that we all came back with a better understanding and better relationships to get more beer to pass on to you.
